Getting started
Connect any mailbox with SMTP and IMAP
Use SMTP and IMAP for any email provider that isn't Gmail or Outlook, or when you prefer not to use Google or Microsoft sign-in.
- SMTP is how Outsquid sends your emails.
- IMAP is how Outsquid sees replies. It's optional, but without it replies won't show up in your Outsquid inbox and won't stop sequences.
Connect
- Go to Mailboxes, click Connect mailbox and choose SMTP.
- Fill in:
- Sender name and Sender email — what recipients see.
- SMTP host and Port — from your provider (see below).
- Username and Password — usually your full email address and an app password.
- Click Add IMAP settings and enter the IMAP host and port (usually 993). Leave the IMAP username and password blank to reuse the SMTP login.
- Click Test connection to check the settings, then connect.
Outsquid only reads your inbox to find replies; messages stay unread.
Common settings
| Provider | SMTP host | SMTP port | IMAP host | IMAP port |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gmail (with an app password) | smtp.gmail.com | 587 | imap.gmail.com | 993 |
| Microsoft 365 | smtp.office365.com | 587 | outlook.office365.com | 993 |
| Zoho Mail | smtp.zoho.com | 587 | imap.zoho.com | 993 |
| Yahoo Mail | smtp.mail.yahoo.com | 587 | imap.mail.yahoo.com | 993 |
Check your provider's own documentation if these don't work — some use regional hosts or different ports.
App passwords
Providers with two-step verification usually reject your normal password for SMTP. Create an app password in your provider's security settings and use that instead.
If the test fails
- Double-check the host, port and username for typos.
- Make sure SMTP (and IMAP) access is turned on for the mailbox — some providers and admins disable it by default.
- Try an app password.
